Dhaka, Feb 23 (V7N)- The United States and Bangladesh will continue working together to make both nations safer, stronger, and more prosperous, US Ambassador Brent Christensen said during a courtesy call on newly appointed Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and State Minister Shama Obaid.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (February 23) afternoon, where the ambassador congratulated both leaders on their new responsibilities.
Officials discussed a range of bilateral issues of mutual interest, with particular emphasis on enhancing security cooperation and boosting economic development through joint initiatives.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Christensen shared photos on his X account and wrote that he looks forward to continuing cooperation to make both countries “safer, stronger, and more prosperous.” Speaking briefly to journalists while leaving the ministry, he described the talks as “very fruitful and positive.”
After the discussion, the Foreign Minister said Bangladesh seeks friendly relations with all countries but does not want external interference in its internal affairs. He added that major partners—including the China and India—have expressed confidence in the current government.
