Dhaka, Feb 24 (V7N)- Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu has assured that the government will take coordinated steps to regulate gas leakage incidents and expired cylinders, following recent deadly fires in Chittagong and Comilla.

The minister made the statement Tuesday morning after visiting victims of the fire incidents in Halishahar and Daudkandi.

Joint Action by Three Ministries

Dulu said the Industries, Health, and Disaster Management and Relief ministries will work together to reduce the risk and damage from accidents caused by gas leaks. He also pledged necessary support for affected families.

Several Victims in Critical Condition

Health Minister Sardar Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain said seven people injured in the Chittagong incident are in critical condition at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

He added that among four victims of a separate gas cylinder explosion in Daudkandi earlier in the day, three remain critical, while a child is out of immediate danger. The minister said all patients are receiving the highest level of medical care.

Casualties in Halishahar Blaze

Earlier, a fire that broke out around 5 am Monday at a house named Fatema Manzil in Halishahar left nine people, including children, severely burned. So far, two victims — both with 100 percent burns — have died.

Outlook:
Authorities say stronger monitoring of cylinder safety standards, public awareness and coordinated emergency response could help reduce such recurring tragedies.
