DHAKA, Mar 14, (V7N) – Senior BNP leader and political adviser to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Mirza Abbas, will be flown to Singapore on Sunday for advanced medical treatment following recent brain surgery.

His personal secretary Mizanur Rahman Sohel said Abbas will be taken by air ambulance at 11 a.m., accompanied by his wife, Afroza Abbas, and their elder son, Mirza Yasir Abbas Bhashan.

Abbas has been under close observation at Evercare Hospital Dhaka after undergoing a two‑phase brain surgery on Friday. A CT scan conducted Saturday morning showed a “good” post‑surgery report, according to BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam.

The BNP leader lost consciousness during iftar on Wednesday and was admitted to Evercare Hospital that night. A CT scan later indicated deterioration, prompting the medical board to recommend immediate surgery. He is currently under 72‑hour intensive observation.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been regularly inquiring about Abbas’s condition and visited him at Evercare Hospital on Friday afternoon.
