In a recent incident, four ferries on the Daulatdia-Paturia route found themselves stranded in the swollen Padma River, leading to the temporary suspension of ferry services. The mishap occurred in the Araji area of the BIWTC region around 3 am on Wednesday night, with the ferries stuck due to the strong river currents.
Khaled Neowaz reported that after approximately seven hours of suspension, the fog cleared, and ferry services resumed at 10 o'clock in the morning. The stranded ferries safely returned to the terminal, marking the end of the unexpected pause in transportation.
During the suspension, some vehicles were trapped in the dock area, causing inconvenience to drivers and passengers. However, as ferry operations resumed, the situation gradually returned to normalcy, alleviating the disruptions faced by commuters.
Authorities are investigating the incident to prevent future occurrences and ensure the safety of river transportation on this vital route.
