Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to embark on a significant milestone as she makes her inaugural official visit to Thailand from April 24 to 29, extending bilateral ties between the two nations.

This historic journey, initiated at the invitation of her counterpart Srettha Thavisin, marks the first-ever head of government-level visit from Bangladesh to Thailand since diplomatic relations were established in 1972, as affirmed in a joint statement by both sides.

Of particular note, this marks Prime Minister Hasina's maiden official visit following her re-election for a fourth consecutive term, underscoring the importance of fostering deeper relations with Thailand.

The visit is poised to usher in a new era of collaboration between the two friendly nations, setting the stage for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.

Initially planned to coincide with the 80th Session of the Commission for UNESCAP, Prime Minister Hasina is scheduled to address the UNESCAP on April 25, amplifying Bangladesh's voice on regional and global platforms.

During her stay, Prime Minister Hasina will lead a high-level delegation comprising ministers, advisers, secretaries, and senior government officials.

Upon concluding her UN commitments, she will be officially welcomed by Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on April 26, followed by bilateral discussions at the Government House.

Moreover, the prime minister will have the honor of an audience with King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshan at the Palace, further reinforcing diplomatic ties.

A state lunch hosted by her counterpart will provide an opportunity for further dialogue and exchange of views.

Anticipated agreements and memoranda of understanding (MOUs) are set to be inked during the visit, paving the way for expanded cooperation across various sectors.
