Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud announced that Bangladesh has granted clearance for Myanmar authorities to repatriate their security personnel who sought refuge in Bangladesh on April 22. However, the actual repatriation depends on weather conditions and Myanmar's internal situation.

Dr. Hasan Mahmud stated that 285 Myanmar border guards and army personnel have sought shelter in Bangladesh amid ongoing conflicts within Myanmar. The repatriation process will involve transporting the personnel by ship, arranged by Myanmar authorities.

The conflicts in Myanmar, particularly in Arakan state, have led to clashes between rebel factions and Myanmar's military junta since February, primarily over control of a border camp.

Despite Bangladesh's critical role in providing refuge to over a million Rohingya refugees, the current conflict involving Myanmar security personnel is unrelated to the Rohingya crisis.
