Dhaka, July 12 (V7N) – Legal Affairs Advisor Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that the government is committed to ensuring a swift and exemplary trial in the brutal murder case of businessman Lal Chand alias Sohag, who was killed in front of Mitford Hospital in the capital.

In a post from his verified Facebook account on Saturday morning, Dr. Nazrul wrote, “The government is determined to bring the perpetrators of the heinous Mitford murder to justice swiftly. Five suspects have already been arrested. The police have launched an investigation with utmost urgency.”

Referring to the legal proceedings, he further stated, “The case against the perpetrators will be transferred to the Speedy Trial Tribunal. Arrangements will be made to begin trial proceedings as soon as possible under Section 10 of the Speedy Trial Tribunal Act-2002.”

The gruesome killing occurred around 6 PM on Wednesday (July 9) near Gate No. 3 of Mitford Hospital. Sohag was reportedly beaten to death, with his head crushed using bricks and stones in full public view. The video footage of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, has drawn widespread condemnation and sparked demands for immediate justice.

The government’s prompt action and the advisor’s assurance of fast-tracking the trial have brought some hope to a public shaken by the brazen violence.
