Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina warmly welcomed and received Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at her office on Tuesday morning. The two leaders are scheduled to engage in a one-to-one meeting, followed by a bilateral meeting, where cooperation documents will be signed and a joint press meet will be held.

Bangladesh and Qatar are set to sign 10 cooperation documents, including six agreements and five Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Among the agreements planned for signing are those pertaining to cooperation in the legal field, promotion and protection of mutual investments, avoidance of double taxation, maritime transport, and the establishment of a Joint Business Council (JBC) between FBCCI & QCCI.

The MoUs to be signed cover cooperation in sports and youth, manpower employment, diplomatic training, education, higher education, scientific research, and collaboration between Qatar Ports management Company “MAWANI QATAR” and Chittagong Ports Authority.

Following the meetings at the Prime Minister’s Office, the Emir will sign the visitors' book before heading to Bangabhaban, where he will be received by the President of Bangladesh. This high-level state visit by Qatar’s Emir, at the invitation of Bangladesh’s President and Prime Minister, signifies the strengthening of bilateral ties between the two nations.
