Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader, assured that the government is vigilant to prevent any harassment of journalists under the Digital Security Act. He made these remarks during the founding anniversary program of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) at their premises in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
Quader also urged the journalist community to be cautious and maintain the integrity of their profession, warning against those who misuse journalism.
“Many individuals, who lack knowledge of journalism or reporting, enter government offices. They are not true journalists. Everyone should be vigilant against such fake journalists,” he stated.
Emphasizing the importance of constructive criticism, Quader noted that the AL government welcomes criticism as a means of self-improvement. “We also engage in criticism, but it should be constructive,” he added.
The program was chaired by DRU President Syed Shukur Ali Shuvo and conducted by its General Secretary, Mohiuddin. Among the speakers were Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader and AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim.
