Amidst the challenges posed by the global pandemic, significant progress has been achieved in the development of the SASEC-2 project, particularly in the construction of the six-lane Rangpur-Dhaka highway. This crucial infrastructure initiative promises a smoother Eid journey for travelers to North Bengal. With travel time reduced by half, residents of the northern region can now reach the capital in just 5 hours. The relentless efforts to build the country's first digital highway are evident, with 85% completion of the ongoing construction. Let's delve deeper into the transformative impact and promising future of SASEC-2.

June 4, (V7N Rangpur)- Despite hindrances caused by the global pandemic, progress has been achieved in the development work of the six-lane Rangpur-Dhaka highway, part of the SASEC-2 project. This highway is set to ensure a smoother Eid journey for travelers to North Bengal! With the travel time from Rangpur to Dhaka reduced to just half, residents of the northern region can reach the capital in merely 5 hours. The relentless efforts in constructing the first digital highway in the country are evident, with 85% completion of the ongoing highway construction.

Initially perceived as a modern six-lane highway, the primary objective of SASEC-2 is to establish communication networks among South Asian countries, connecting through the SASEC corridor, the Asian corridor, and the BIMSTEC corridor. This highway aims to facilitate swift transportation to 16 districts of North Bengal within a short span of time. Equipped with flyovers, underpasses, bridges, and culverts, the highway will reduce traffic congestion and enable local vehicles to move freely.

Every year during Eid, residents of North Bengal endure travel inconveniences. However, with the completion of the SASEC-2 project, the travel time from Rangpur to various destinations will be significantly reduced. Additionally, the project's sub-project, Connectivity Project-2, at Hatikumrul Interchange, is progressing well. The project was initially scheduled for completion by June 2022, but due to unforeseen circumstances such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war, there were delays. However, we remain optimistic about the timely completion of the project.

Construction of this highway, spanning 190 kilometers from Sirajganj's Hatikumrul to modern Rangpur, continues round the clock. Despite facing challenges over the past two years due to the pandemic, work on this project is now advancing rapidly. With each passing day, construction progresses further, signaling the realization of our long-awaited highway project.

Nashid Hasan Sirajee, Sub-Divisional Engineer at RHD SASEC Road Connectivity Project-2 said, emphasized the transformation of the highway into a modern 4-Lane Highway, showcasing the dedication of the team towards enhancing transportation infrastructure."
