Government employees in Bangladesh will enjoy a five-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha, with vacations spanning from June 14 to 18.

The sighting of the moon on Friday evening confirmed the beginning of the Arabic month of Zilhaj on Saturday. As a result, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 17, which corresponds to the 10th of Zilhaj.

Public holidays have been declared for June 16, 17, and 18. Additionally, June 14 and 15 fall on the weekend, extending the holiday period. Consequently, government employees will start their leave on June 14 and return to work on June 19.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration, Eid-ul-Azha is a general holiday, with the days before and after Eid also designated as holidays for government officials by executive order.

Many people travel from Dhaka to their hometowns to celebrate Eid with their families during these holidays.

Government offices will resume regular hours from June 19, with officials working from 9 am to 5 pm as usual.
