Lieutenant General Waker-Uz-Zaman has been appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, effective June 23, for a three-year term. With a distinguished military career spanning over three decades, Lt Gen Waker has held key command, staff, and instructional positions. His appointment follows General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed's tenure, which began in June 2021.
