Quazi Abu Mahmud Faisal, NBR's first secretary (taxes, legal, and enforcement), has been transferred to Taxes Zone, Bogra, following accusations of amassing Tk1,000 crore in illegal wealth. A letter signed by Md Shahiduzzaman confirmed his transfer and appointment of Md Moniruzzaman in his place.

A Dhaka court recently froze Tk6.96 crore in 87 bank accounts belonging to Faisal, his wife, and 14 relatives, and Tk2.55 crore in 15 savings certificates. The court also ordered the seizure of immovable assets in the names of Faisal’s wife and three others. The ACC is investigating Faisal’s corruption and bribery, which include properties and savings certificates worth Tk16 crore.
