The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has confiscated the duplex bungalow of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed in Rupganj, Narayanganj, following a court directive.
A team comprising officials from the Narayanganj district administration and ACC seized the property in the Anondo Police Housing Society area around 3:30 PM on Saturday. The operation was overseen by Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahmudul Haque, along with local upazila administration officials and ACC representatives. A notice of confiscation has been posted at the main gate.
The bungalow, built on 24 katha (approximately 1.6 acres) of land in 2022, is valued at around Tk10 crore and is registered in the name of Benazir’s daughter, Farheen Rishta Binte Benazir. Additionally, on Thursday, the local administration assumed control of 25 acres of property in Bandarban, worth Tk20 crore, belonging to Benazir. This included a garden house, cattle farm, and fish farm.
Local sources revealed that Benazir had accumulated 50 acres in Sualak union and 100 acres in Lama upazila. The team, led by Deputy Commissioner Shah Mozahid Uddin, secured the properties and installed signboards to indicate government control. Any income generated from these properties will be deposited into the government treasury.
