Teknaf, July 15 (V7N) – Clashes between the Arakan Army (AA) and Myanmar forces have intensified in Myanmar's Rakhine state. Several members of Myanmar security forces, including the Border Guard Police (BGP), are trying to enter Bangladesh in two wooden trawlers through the Naf River to survive the ongoing war. Currently, these two trawlers are floating in the Naf river.
On Sunday, July 14, in the afternoon, the Bangladesh Coast Guard blocked two wooden trawlers in the Naf River at the transit ghat of Teknaf Municipality when half a hundred members of the Myanmar security forces tried to enter Bangladesh. Unable to enter, two of their trawlers were seen floating in the Naf River. No official statement was received from Bangladesh Coast Guard and BGB in this regard.
Teknaf Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md Adnan Chowdhury said that residents of the border have reported hearing the sound of gunfire from Myanmar even today. Coils of fire were seen across the Naf River. Moreover, some BGP members of that country are trying to enter. But our law enforcement forces are ready to deal with any situation.
