Rajshahi, July 3 (V7N) — The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Mohammad Sabbir (24), the prime suspect in the kidnapping of a seventh-grade female student from Bardhanpur Westpara area under Durgapur police station in Rajshahi district. Sabbir is the son of Shahadat Ali from nearby Palashbari village. He was apprehended on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the victim studies in class seven at Bardhanpur High School. Sabbir frequently harassed her with unwanted romantic proposals while she commuted to school. On June 24, around 2 p.m., as the victim was returning home from school, Sabbir and several accomplices forcibly abducted her from a paved road near Hindupara village in Bardhanpur. They then took her away rapidly by CNG (auto-rickshaw) towards the Amgachi area.
Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a kidnapping case at Durgapur Police Station on June 28. Acting on this complaint, an investigative team from RAB-5 Rajshahi and the Crime Prevention and Suppression Cell (CPSC) launched operations to apprehend the suspects.
As part of the ongoing investigation, RAB conducted multiple raids across the region and successfully arrested Sabbir from Bardhanpur Westpara on Wednesday.
The suspect has since been handed over to Durgapur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
