Rangpur, July 17 (V7N) - The funeral of Abu Said, a member of the Quota Reform Movement's coordination committee and a student of Begum Rokeya University (BRU), who was killed in a clash with police and Chhatra League, has been completed.

His namaz-e-janaza was held on Wednesday at 9 am at the Jafarpur Madrasa field in Babnapur village, Madankhali Union, Pirganj Upazila, Rangpur. Abu Said’s relative, Md. Siam Mia, led the prayer, which was attended by a large crowd.

Following the janaza, Abu Said was laid to rest in the family graveyard.

His body arrived at his village late Tuesday night, creating a heart-wrenching scene as the environment was filled with grief and tears. Hundreds of people were present, mourning the loss.

Abu Said's mother, Monowara Begum, was inconsolable, devastated by the loss of her son.

Local residents reported that Abu Said's father is a day laborer and could not afford to educate any of his children. However, Abu Said was exceptionally talented from a young age. He received a scholarship in the talent pool in fifth grade, achieved a Golden GPA-5 in SSC, and a GPA-5 in HSC. He later enrolled in the English Department at Begum Rokeya University. Abu Said had reached this stage through his own efforts. Locals believe that if he had lived, he would have achieved great things and contributed significantly to his family and community.

On Tuesday, July 15, students protesting the quota reform at Begum Rokeya University took out a procession from the Lalbagh area towards the campus. When they tried to enter the campus, police intervened, leading to a clash. Police fired rubber bullets at the students, resulting in the death of Abu Said.
