The Chief of Bangladesh Army, General Wakar-uz-Zaman, was scheduled to address the nation today, Monday, August 5, at 2 PM. However, this has been rescheduled to 3 PM today, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) office.

The ISPR has advised the public to remain patient and refrain from violence until the Army Chief delivers his speech. This request has been made by the Army Chief himself.

Additionally, a three-day public holiday, announced by the Ministry of Public Administration, starts today. Moreover, a nationwide indefinite curfew has been in effect since 6 PM yesterday.

Yesterday, at least 97 people were killed in clashes and violence across the country surrounding the non-cooperation movement by the anti-discrimination student protests. Among the deceased, 14 were police officers. Several hundred people were injured, and there have been numerous incidents of attacks, vandalism, and arson on various establishments.
