Dhaka, August 7 — In a significant reshuffle, several key positions within the Bangladesh police force have been reassigned. The changes were officially confirmed in a notification issued by the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, signed by Deputy Secretary Mahabur Rahman Sheikh. The reassignments, effective immediately, are aimed at enhancing public security and law enforcement across the country.

AKM Shahidur Rahman has been appointed as the Director General of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Prior to this, he served as an Additional Inspector General of Police.

Mainul Hasan, formerly a Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been appointed as the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

These appointments follow the earlier appointment of Md. Moinul Islam as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) on August 6, 2024. Moinul Islam, who previously held the position of Commandant of the Dhaka Traffic and Driving School, has taken over as the head of the Bangladesh Police Force.

The reshuffle is part of the government's efforts to strengthen the country's law enforcement leadership during a period of heightened political and social challenges. The newly appointed officials are expected to play crucial roles in maintaining law and order and ensuring public safety.

The notification emphasized that these orders were made in the public interest, underscoring the urgency and importance of the leadership changes within the police force.
