Dhaka, Aug 21 - The interim government has accepted the resignations of 13 prosecutors from the International Crimes Tribunal's Office of the Prosecutor. The resignations are effective from the date of their submission.
This was confirmed by a notification issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs on Wednesday. The resigning prosecutors include acting chief prosecutor Syed Haider Ali, along with 12 others.
The International Crimes Tribunal was established 39 years after Bangladesh's independence to prosecute crimes against humanity committed in 1971. Tribunal-1 began operations on March 25, 2010, and a second tribunal was formed on March 22, 2012. However, the two tribunals were merged into one on September 15, 2015, which continues to function as International Crimes Tribunal-I.
