Dhaka, Aug 25 (V7N): A murder case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 12 others in connection with the death of Sub-Assistant Director and Freedom Fighter Md Abdur Rahim, who was an accused in the 2009 Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters massacre at Pilkhana.

Advocate Abdul Aziz, the son of the late Abdur Rahim, submitted an application to register the case in court on Sunday. The case also names 200 unidentified individuals as defendants.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akhtaruzzaman recorded the plaintiff's statement and ordered the registration of the case, confirmed Md Delwar Hossain, the plaintiff's lawyer.

According to the lawyer, Abdur Rahim, who had been arrested in connection with the BDR mutiny case, died in Dhaka Central Jail on July 29, 2010. The complaint alleges that he was killed in a planned manner. An unnatural death case had been filed at the Chawkbazar police station at the time. Following the new case application, the court has ordered the records of the earlier unnatural death case to be reviewed and directed the registration of this new case.

The complaint accuses Sheikh Hasina, leader of the 14-party alliance including the Bangladesh Awami League, of orchestrating the killings of 74 people, including 57 army officers, at the BDR headquarters in Pilkhana on February 25 and 26, 2009, allegedly by hiring foreign agents.

The complaint further claims that Abdur Rahim, who was serving as a Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) at Pilkhana during the mutiny, was arrested as an accused in the BDR mutiny case and was allegedly killed by injection on July 29, 2010.
