Dhaka, Sept 04 (V7N): On Wednesday, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus called on the top government bureaucrats to work together in creating a new Bangladesh, emphasizing the importance of honesty, dedication, and accountability in their respective roles. He urged them to draw inspiration from the conviction and bravery demonstrated by students during the July-August uprising, in their quest to build a fair and humane society free of discrimination.

During a meeting with the secretaries, Prof Yunus highlighted the need to break away from traditional mindsets and approach tasks with reformed thinking and creativity, always prioritizing the public's interest.

“The highest satisfaction of the people should be achieved by rooting out corruption and easing services,” the chief adviser’s press wing quoted him as saying during the meeting at the Chief Adviser’s Office.

Prof Yunus stressed the importance of ensuring the optimal use of public funds and promoting fair competition in public procurement. He emphasized the need to remove obstacles to guarantee transparency and accountability.

The chief adviser issued directives to adopt and implement reform programs across all levels of government. He underscored the importance of engaging in discussions and seeking input from relevant stakeholders when formulating these reform programs.

Prof Yunus urged every ministry and department to develop time-bound action plans for short, medium, and long-term reforms, which would be regularly reviewed and monitored. He also noted that the positive global perception of the new Bangladesh, spurred by the student-led uprising, should be leveraged to benefit the country.
