Dhaka, Sept 5 (V7N): Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has urged newly appointed superintendents of police (SPs) to address and eliminate corruption related to recruitment and transfers within the police force.

During a briefing for 26 newly appointed SPs at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday morning, Chowdhury emphasized the need to combat bribery and extortion. He remarked, "There is another form of business within the police—recruitment and transfer business. This too must be stopped immediately."

Chowdhury pointed out that bribery and extortion are significant sources of corruption and stressed that eradicating these practices would address many societal injustices and irregularities. He warned that any police officer found involved in such corruption would face stringent penalties.

The adviser highlighted the importance of addressing past grievances and restoring public trust in the police force. He urged the SPs to adopt a service-oriented approach, leveraging existing resources and logistics to serve the public effectively.
