Dhaka, Sep 15 (V7N): Bangladesh will observe Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating both the birth and passing of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), on Monday with deep religious respect and devotion.

This sacred day marks the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the Islamic Hijri calendar, the day in 570 when Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, bringing divine guidance and a message of peace for humanity. It also marks the day of his passing.

On the eve of Eid-e-Miladunnabi, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus extended their greetings to the people of Bangladesh and Muslims worldwide.

In his message, President Mohammed Shahabuddin highlighted the significance of the day, describing it as sacred for Muslims globally. He emphasized that Allah sent Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) as Rahmatullil Alamin, a blessing for all creation. The Prophet (PBUH), referred to as Sirajam Monira or the enlightened light, guided humanity from an era of falsehood, sin, and darkness to one founded on truth, justice, and beauty. The president also noted that the Prophet's final sermon during his last Hajj serves as a timeless guide for all of humanity.

The president concluded by praying for the strength to work for the welfare of the country, the nation, and humanity, inspired by the Prophet’s ideals.

In his separate message, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus also referred to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as Rahmatullil Alamin, sent to bring peace, progress, and welfare to the world. He praised the Prophet's efforts to liberate humanity from prejudice, sin, injustice, and oppression, as well as his commitment to fostering peace and brotherhood. Prof Yunus expressed his belief that only by following the Prophet's exemplary lifestyle and teachings, Muslims can find success, peace, and welfare in today's troubled world.

To mark the day, Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will air special programs, and various national newspapers will publish supplements highlighting the importance of the occasion. The day will also be observed as a public holiday across the country.
