Gazipur, Sep 18 (V7N)— Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has announced that policemen who have not resumed their duties will be barred from returning to work, with actions being taken against them. This statement was made during a parade at the Bangladesh Ansar Academy in Safipur on Wednesday morning.

In response to media queries, Chowdhury stated, “The policemen who have not yet joined the work will not be allowed to join, and appropriate actions will be taken against them.” He emphasized that the army, currently vested with magisterial powers for the next two months, is expected to carry out their duties effectively within their capacity.

During his speech at the event, Chowdhury highlighted the significance of the Ansar forces in Bangladesh’s development and law enforcement. He expressed hope that the Ansar forces will continue to serve with integrity, loyalty, and fairness, contributing to the nation’s progress and security.

Chowdhury also referred to the recent situation involving the Bangladesh Police. A notification from the police headquarters revealed that 187 police members have been absent from duty since August 1. This includes one Deputy Inspector General (DIG), seven Additional DIGs, and various other ranks. The absences range from overstaying leave to voluntary resignations and other reasons.

The Home Affairs Advisor reaffirmed the government's commitment to ensuring that law enforcement agencies function effectively and maintain discipline.
