Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – On Friday, 154 undocumented Bangladeshi migrants were repatriated from Libya through a coordinated effort involving the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bangladesh Mission in Tripoli, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as reported by the foreign ministry.

The returnees arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka at 7 AM aboard a chartered flight operated by Buraq Air. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and IOM were present to welcome and assist the migrants upon their arrival.

As part of the repatriation process, IOM provided each individual with Tk6,000 in cash, along with food supplies, medical care, and temporary accommodation.

This operation is part of an ongoing initiative led by the Bangladeshi government and IOM to repatriate nationals stranded in Libya without proper documentation. The foreign ministry, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, has been actively working to ensure the safe and dignified return of these vulnerable individuals.

These efforts demonstrate a continued commitment to assist Bangladeshis facing challenging circumstances abroad, particularly those lacking legal status in foreign countries.
