Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released a draft list containing the names of 708 individuals who were killed during the anti-discrimination student protests in July and August.

The draft, made public on Tuesday, includes the names, fathers' names, mobile numbers, addresses, birth dates, and national identity card (NID) numbers of the deceased, according to the ministry. Corrections, additions, or deletions can be made to the list if there are errors, and any missing information can be added.

This announcement was issued in a public notice, with the ministry also clarifying that claims of over 1,400 deaths are unverified and not confirmed.

The draft list was compiled using data from both public and private hospitals, as well as district-level sources, and has been published on the Health Service Division (www.hsd.gov.bd) and the Directorate General of Health Services (www.dghs.gov.bd) websites.

The ministry has set a window from September 23 to October 6 for family members or representatives to verify, correct, or complete the information of their deceased loved ones.

Instructions for Data Correction:

  1. Family members or representatives of the deceased must register using their NID or birth registration and mobile number.
  2. After registration, they should download and print the deceased individual’s information.
  3. Any missing information must be filled out on the printed form.
  4. The completed form should then be taken to the relevant hospital or nearby government hospital for assistance in correcting the information.
  5. Hospital personnel will submit the updated data online, which can later be re-verified on the website.

For any deceased individual not listed, family members or representatives are urged to contact the relevant deputy commissioner, civil surgeon, upazila nirbahi officer, or upazila health and family planning officer with proper documentation.
