Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner, Mainul Hasan, emphasized the need for enhanced preparation and training to tackle upcoming challenges. Speaking at the inauguration of the 'ASP Probationers Orientation Course' at DMP headquarters on Tuesday, he urged police officers to take their training seriously to effectively face future hurdles.
In his address, Commissioner Mainul Hasan highlighted the crucial role of the Bangladesh Police in maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of citizens. He stressed that without stability and security, the country's overall development, including trade and commerce, would suffer. "Peace and order should be established in society through proper application of the law," he said, acknowledging the difficulty of the task.
Reflecting on the recent deaths of policemen and the challenges posed by the ongoing student movement, the DMP Commissioner paid tribute to the fallen officers and expressed condolences to their families. He noted that the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, with around 35,000 personnel, is the largest unit of the Bangladesh Police, playing a vital role in providing police services to the citizens of Dhaka.
Commissioner Mainul Hasan also outlined the three primary functions of the Bangladesh Police: crime prevention, investigating and prosecuting criminals, and intelligence gathering. He stressed the importance of intelligence gathering, stating that it is essential to engage with the public to obtain valuable information.
