The Bangladesh Chamber of businesses (BCI), which claims that rising inflation and high interest rates on bank loans have made domestic businesses extremely difficult to operate in, has called for a long-term solution to the electricity and gas crises.

When the delegation from the industrial sector, led by BCI president Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), paid Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun a visit at his ministry office on Thursday, the lone chamber made the request.

The country's industrial sector has been going through a transitional phase, according to the BCI delegation, which was made up of members of its board of directors.

Due to high inflation, low gas pressure, and high loan interest rates, no industry in the nation can operate at its maximum capacity, and sales for all businesses have decreased. In light of all of this, the BCI leaders stated that the domestic businesses have been confronted with formidable obstacles.

The president of BCI stated that the purpose of raising the prices of gas and electricity on the international market was to entice the government to guarantee their consistent supply.

He went on, "But even though the price of energy is trending downward in the global market, there are rumors that gas and electricity prices will rise once more.""Having a long-term solution to the issue is crucial. The industrial sector can advance in accordance with a long-term strategy if it is provided with gas and electrical supplies, he said.

The BCI Board of Directors welcomed the Minister with flowers and a frame with the organization's "My Product My Country" emblem at the start of the meeting.

The president of the BCI stated that they recently had a meeting with the governor of Bangladesh Bank to discuss the bank's policies with relation to all of the nation's issues.

He claimed that banks are being urged to invest in bonds as a result of certain Bangladesh Bank measures. The bank will have a liquidity issue as a result."As a result of the central bank's action, new investment will not flow in and the unemployment rate will increase. Preserving our present industry is crucial," he continued.

He said that the National Board of Revenue's (NBR) varied policies are having a negative impact on the nation's manufacturing sector.

He said that changing rules at different periods have made running the enterprises more challenging. He asked the Minister to arrange a meeting with the NBR Chairman.

During the meeting, BCI's senior vice-president Preeti Chakraborty stated that the nation's service businesses continue to pay power bills at commercial rates.

She asked the minister to take the required actions to charge industrial rates for utility bills. The executive committee, Md. Salim Jahan, Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Zia Hyder Mithu, BCI vice-president Mohammad Yunus, Zia Hyder Mithu, Mizanur Rahman, Nazmul Anwar, Sohana Rauf Chowdhury, and Senior Secretary of Industries Ministry Zakia Sultana were in attendance at the meeting.
