The curtain came down on the 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair. The official end of the month-long fair was announced on Tuesday (February 20) at 5 pm. State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam (Titu) made the announcement at the closing ceremony held at the multi-purpose hall of the permanent venue of the fair 'Bangabandhu Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre'.
Stating that the Prime Minister has declared handicrafts as the best product of the year, the State Minister for Commerce said that there will be a separate pavilion next year to take handicrafts forward. Apart from this, besides the garment industry, leather, jute, electronics products are being taken forward through trade fairs, he said.
In his speech, he promised to correct the mistakes of the fair this year and present a more beautiful fair in the future. He said, special attention will be given to the businessmen of 23 countries to come to the fair. So that the products of our country will expand internationally. He also said to fulfill the target of 100 billion dollars by exporting the products of this country.
In the event, the Secretary of Commerce said that foreign businessmen do not want to come to the month-long fair. Therefore, they are thinking of organizing a different 5-day international fair named Dhaka trade fair. At that time FBBCCI President Mahbubul Alam agreed to his proposal and offered overall cooperation and partnership of FBBCCI.
Analyzing the overall management of the fair, the organizers said that even though the fair did not start at the scheduled time due to the National Assembly elections, this time there was a huge response from the people. Sales increased by 15 percent compared to last time and this time the product was sold at 400 crore rupees. Moreover, the export order has increased by 17.25% compared to the last time.
This year's fair has various categories of pavilions, restaurants and stalls, machinery, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, jute and jute products, home furnishings and household goods, leather goods, sports goods, sanitary ware, toys, stationery, crockery, plastic, Various products including melamine polymer, herbal and toiletries, imitation jewellery, processed food, fast food, handicrafts are on display.
A total of 304 local and foreign organizations participated in this year's event. Apart from Bangladesh, 9 stalls from India, Hong Kong, Turkey, Indonesia and Singapore participated in the fair.
This year, 41 organizations were awarded in various categories including construction of the best stall pavilion. Among them, Jamuna Electronics and Auto Mobile Company won the award in the category of electronics products.
