Dhaka, Feb 11 (V7N) –Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has said the authorities dream of a day when the activities of the Trading Corporation Of Bangladesh will no longer be necessary.

"We aim to achieve our goal through equitable distribution of resources. It may be a long-term plan, but we are determined to achieve it,"
the adviser said while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the TCB's truck sales operations at Shib Bari Mor in Khulna on Tuesday.

Bashir added: "Through the TCB, market prices will become more stable. An additional 9,000 tons of products will be sold through trucks. This initiative will help reduce market prices and bring stability, relieving marginalized people.

"Under the directive of Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, we have launched truck sales operations in all divisional headquarters and five poverty-stricken areas, covering 13 locations and benefiting 1.2 million families."

He mentioned that the TCB supplies subsidized products to 6.3 million families. "The Khulna region has shown the highest success rate in converting smart cards. By February 24, the remaining card activations will be completed, increasing the number of beneficiaries."

Any TCB cardholder can purchase goods from these trucks by standing in line.

Each customer can buy up to two litres of soybean oil, two kilograms each of lentils and chickpeas, one kilogram of sugar, and 500 grams of dates.

The prices set by the TCB are as follows: one litre of soybean oil – Tk100, one kilogram of sugar – Tk70, one kilogram of lentils and chickpeas – Tk60, and dates – Tk156 per kilogram.
