Tangail, Mar 2 (V7N) – Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhtar announced that affordable goods will be sold year-round at low prices. These goods will be distributed from district to upazila levels to ensure accessibility for the general public. She made this statement on Saturday (March 1) while inaugurating the sale of essential products at affordable prices at the District Commissioner’s office in Tangail, in observance of the holy month of Ramadan.

During the event, items such as eggs were sold for 38 Taka per piece, broiler chicken at 250 Taka per kilogram, beef at 650 Taka per kilogram, and milk at 80 Taka per liter.

In addition, Advisor Farida Akhtar wished success to the newly formed political party, the National Citizen Party. She also mentioned that the process to establish a Fisheries and Livestock Bank is in its final stages. The Ministry of Finance has already sent a letter, and the Bangladesh Bank is expected to give approval soon. Once the bank is operational, it will help reduce the exploitation by moneylenders and lower the price of various fish species, particularly hilsa.

She further emphasized the need for farmers to avoid using harmful pesticides near livestock farms, as these chemicals are dangerous for both animals and fish. Akhtar urged farmers to inform agricultural officials about any such activities in their vicinity to prevent harm to animals.

The event was also attended by Tangail’s Acting District Commissioner Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, District Animal Resource Officer Mostafizur Rahman, and Tangail Press Club President Advocate Zafar Ahmed, among others.
