Dhaka, July 09 (V7N) – Bangladesh received $670 million in remittances during the first seven days of July, averaging more than $95 million per day, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank released on Tuesday (July 8).
This continues the positive trend in remittance inflow seen in recent months. In June, the country received $2.82 billion, marking an 11 percent year-on-year increase. The remittance inflow was $2.97 billion in May and $2.75 billion in April, reflecting steady growth.
Observers note that remittance inflows had declined towards the end of the previous Awami League government’s term. However, following the change in leadership—when Dr. Muhammad Yunus assumed office after a student-public uprising, expatriate confidence appears to have rebounded, resulting in increased remittance flows.
Economists suggest that political stability, improved financial governance, and confidence in the new administration are encouraging factors behind this remittance resurgence.
