Dhaka, March 4, (V7N) - Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s national oil company, has agreed to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Bangladesh at reduced prices, announced Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy this afternoon.
Currently, Bangladesh imports LNG from two countries, but the deal with Aramco is expected to ease energy costs and boost energy security, Rizwana said.
Addressing law and order, she reaffirmed the government’s firm stance against mob justice and moral policing, emphasizing that violence against women will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Regarding school admissions, Rizwana stated that children of families affected by the July uprising will receive one-time admission benefits, impacting around 1,200 families. However, she clarified that this initiative is not linked to any quota system.
The briefing was attended by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretaries Apurba Jahangir and Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi.
