Dhaka, Mar 29 (V7N) – Banks across Bangladesh have started a 9-day holiday from March 28 to April 5 in celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr. However, Bangladesh Bank has directed some branches to remain open on March 28 and 29 to facilitate the payment of salaries and bonuses to workers in the ready-made garment (RMG) sector and to ensure smooth processing of export bills.

On Saturday (March 29), several bank branches in key industrial zones will operate, including those in Dhaka Metropolitan City, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong.

These branches will remain open from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with transaction services available from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Security measures have been strengthened in these branches to ensure safe banking operations during the holiday period.

Bangladesh Bank has also instructed that bank employees working on these designated days must be provided allowances as per existing rules and regulations.

The move aims to prevent any disruption in the RMG sector's financial activities and to ensure that workers receive their Eid bonuses and wages on time.
