Kanpur, Jan 01 (V7N) – The life story of Shravan Kumar Vishwakarma, an entrepreneur from Kanpur in India’s Uttar Pradesh state, is emerging as a powerful symbol of determination and self-made success. Once a tempo driver struggling to make ends meet, Shravan is now the founder of India’s new airline, Shank Air, according to a report by Hindustan Times.
Shravan was not particularly focused on academics in his early life. To support himself, he took up various jobs, including driving a tempo and working as a loader. His early years were marked by hardship and uncertainty.
However, repeated setbacks did not deter him. Shravan ventured into small businesses, facing initial failures. A turning point came in 2014 when he entered the cement and steel trade. From there, his fortunes changed rapidly. He expanded into the transport sector and, within a short time, built a large fleet of trucks, firmly establishing his business presence.
About four years ago, Shravan set his sights on an ambitious new dream—to launch his own airline. He began extensive preparations, navigating complex documentation and regulatory approval processes. That dream is now close to becoming reality.
Shank Air has already received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from India’s Union Ministry of Civil Aviation. The airline plans to commence operations in early 2026.
In the initial phase, Shank Air will operate three Airbus aircraft, with planned routes connecting Lucknow to major cities including Delhi and Mumbai. The company also aims to expand its domestic network gradually.
Shravan Vishwakarma has said that air travel should not be limited to the wealthy. His vision is to make flying affordable for ordinary people across India.
His extraordinary journey—from driving a tempo on city roads to preparing aircraft for takeoff—has become a source of inspiration for countless young entrepreneurs, proving that perseverance and vision can overcome even the toughest beginnings.
