Comilla, Feb 22 (V7N) — Prices of essential commodities in high demand during Ramadan remain elevated in local markets, with consumers continuing to feel pressure on household budgets.

Although cucumbers, brinjals, and green chillies saw a spike at the beginning of Ramadan, traders say their prices have eased slightly over the past two days.

Edible Oil Shortage

A significant shortage of edible oil — particularly 5-liter bottles of soybean oil — has been reported across markets in Comilla. Many retailers say they are not receiving sufficient supply.

According to traders, suppliers often create an artificial shortage during Ramadan, forcing small shopkeepers to purchase additional products to secure oil allocations. As a result, the larger consumer packs are largely unavailable in retail outlets.
