Following more than 24 hours of closure due to the devastating cyclone, normal operations have resumed at Mongla Port. On Tuesday (May 28th) morning, domestic and foreign vessels have begun the process of unloading goods from six vessels stationed in the port channel since the cyclone passed.

Earlier on Monday (May 27th) afternoon, cargo delivery commenced within the port premises via jetty. Rear Admiral Shahin Rahman, Chairman of Mongla Port Authority, stated, "Following the issuance of a Level 3 warning by the Meteorological Department on Monday, indicating a reduction in the severity of the cyclone, port operations have returned to normal. Cargo delivery has begun from the jetty since yesterday afternoon. Additionally, from Tuesday morning, the unloading of goods from vessels anchored in the port channel at Harbaria has also commenced."

The vessels currently involved in cargo unloading operations include the Bangladeshi flag carrier MV Ammar (stone), Panama flag carrier MV Gas Juice (gas), Panama flag carrier MV V Star (salt), Panama flag carrier MV Yas Sky (clinker), and Thai flag carrier MV Sumi-2 (gas).

Prior to mitigating the cyclone's impact, on Sunday (May 26th) morning at 10 am, vessels were safely anchored at Harbaria after being sent from the jetty. In order to mitigate damage, the port authority simultaneously issued its own Alert-4 in disaster preparedness and post-cyclone rehabilitation planning.

Alert-4, instituted in 1992, represents the highest phase of the port authority's preparation and post-cyclone rehabilitation planning. Following its issuance, larger vessels from the port channel and jetty were safely sent to Harbaria. Furthermore, all container and cargo handling equipment, including Quay Cranes (QCs) and Rubber Tire Gantry Cranes (RTGCs), have been securely preserved.
