Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N) —Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC) has resumed the sale of single journey tickets for the metro rail, resolving the previous shortage of these tickets. The company has confirmed that passengers will now be able to purchase tickets according to their demand, easing earlier issues faced by commuters.
This information was shared in a post on DMTC's official Facebook page on Saturday night.
The Facebook post said that single journey tickets are now being sold according to passenger demand at metro rail stations. In addition, Rapid Passes are also being sold and recharged.
Earlier, DMTC’s Managing Director Abdur Rouf had informed the media that 20,000 tickets would be brought this week. These tickets have now been distributed at the stations. Apart from these tickets, another 20,000 tickets will be available in February.
Following that, 100,000 tickets will be brought in March, and an additional 190,000 tickets will arrive after March. In total, 490,000 tickets are expected to be brought, according to DMTC’s director.
In addition to single tickets, an initiative is also being taken to implement a mobile scanner system with paper QR codes.
It should be noted that earlier, passengers had to face difficulties due to a shortage of fare payment cards for the metro rail. Many passengers had to return from stations due to the lack of single journey cards. Furthermore, the sale of Rapid or MRT passes was completely halted due to a supply shortage.
