Dhaka, Dec 30 (V7N) — Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has issued a special request to refrain from flying lanterns or similar objects along the MRT-6 (Uttara-Motijheel) route and its surrounding areas during Thirty-First Night and English New Year celebrations.

In a notification signed by DMTCL Deputy General Manager (Administration) Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, the company highlighted safety concerns regarding the metro train’s high-voltage electric lines. The metro system operates daily along this route, and any lanterns or debris getting entangled in the electric lines could lead to severe accidents, endangering lives and property.

DMTCL has urged citizens to celebrate responsibly and avoid such activities to prevent mishaps. The notice further warned that if any accidents occur due to negligence, the responsible individuals or organisations will face disciplinary action under existing laws.

This precautionary measure aims to ensure uninterrupted metro services and safeguard public safety during the festivities.
