Gazipur, Feb  08 (V7N) – The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a protest rally in Rajbari, Gazipur, in response to the recent attack and vandalism at the residence of former Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque. The announcement was made through the organization’s official Facebook page.

According to the post, the rally is scheduled to take place on Saturday (February 8) at 11:30 AM. The protest comes in the wake of Friday night’s violent incident in the Dakhinkhan area of Dhirashram in Gazipur city, where clashes erupted between attackers and local residents, leaving at least 15 people injured. Among the injured, three are reported to be in critical condition.

Witnesses stated that several individuals had been seen loitering near Mozammel Haque’s residence from Friday evening. Around 10 PM, they launched an attack on the house, breaking in and vandalizing property. In response, a nearby mosque made an emergency announcement over its loudspeaker, warning that robbers were present. This prompted local Awami League leaders, activists, and residents to rush to the scene to intervene, leading to a violent clash.

The injured were initially taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital, with eight of the critically wounded later transferred to Dhaka for further treatment. The situation was eventually brought under control after army personnel arrived at the scene.

In the aftermath of the incident, Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Committee, posted a provocative message on Facebook, stating, "Today will be the last day of Awami terrorists in Gazipur. We are coming..."

The announcement of the protest rally has heightened tensions in the area, with authorities on high alert to prevent any further escalation of violence.
