Dhaka, Feb 26 (V7N)- Three days after the shocking gold looting incident in Banasree, police have yet to arrest any suspects. Frustrated by the inaction, gold traders and local residents have taken to the streets, blocking roads and surrounding the Rampura Police Station in protest.
The Jewelers Owners Association has issued a strict ultimatum, warning that if the culprits are not arrested by Sunday, they will take strong action on Monday (March 3).
Law enforcement authorities have assured the public that they are actively working on the case.
"A professional terrorist group from outside the capital committed this crime. We are working to arrest the accused," said Rampura Police Station OC Ataur Rahman Akand.
On Sunday night, relatives of the victim, along with gold traders, surrounded the Rampura Police Station, demanding swift justice.
Traders also staged a human chain protest in Banasree on Wednesday, blocking roads to press for immediate action.
With tensions rising, all eyes are now on the authorities to see if they can apprehend the culprits before the deadline set by the jewelers’ association.
