Dhaka, Mar 21 (V7N) – With Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, people from different parts of the country have started leaving the capital to celebrate the festival with their loved ones.
Since Friday morning (March 21), a visit to various bus stands and ticket counters in Dhaka revealed that many employees are sending their family members home in advance to avoid the rush of last-minute holiday travel.
According to travelers, employees themselves will leave once their Eid holidays officially begin, but they prefer to send their families ahead to avoid the inevitable congestion and travel difficulties.
Passengers also reported that no additional fare is being charged so far, though some travelers purchasing advance tickets have complained about slightly higher fares.
However, bus counter authorities claim that passenger pressure is still low, and therefore, there is no reason to charge extra fare at this moment. As the holiday nears, an increase in passenger flow is expected, which might lead to further challenges in securing tickets.
