Dhaka, Apr 12 (V7N) – With Pahela Boishakh, the Bengali New Year, just around the corner, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued detailed traffic and security instructions to ensure a smooth and festive celebration across the capital, particularly in and around Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, and the Dhaka University area.

In a press release issued on Saturday (April 12), the DMP announced that a number of roads will be closed or diverted starting from 5 AM on April 14 (Monday) to facilitate large public gatherings and ensure public safety.

To manage crowd control and ensure security in the Ramna Batamul and surrounding celebration zones, the following key intersections will be restricted:

  1. Bangla Motor Crossing/Navy Gap

  2. Police Bhaban Crossing

  3. Sugandha Crossing

  4. Kakrail Church Crossing

  5. Kadamfoara Crossing

  6. High Court Crossing (East and South)

  7. Doel Chattar Crossing

  8. Romana Crossing

  9. Dhaka University Medical Center

  10. Jagannath Hall Crossing

  11. Bhaskarya Crossing

  12. Nilkhet Crossing

  13. Katabon Crossing

Despite restrictions in some areas, vehicles may still use the following roads to navigate around the celebration zones:

  • Mirpur-Farmgate to Shahbagh: Divert through Bangla Motor → Moghbazar Crossing.

  • Golapshah Mazar to Shahbagh: Use High Court → Kadamfoara → UBL → Nightingale Crossing.

  • Science Lab to Shahbagh: Divert through Mirpur Road → Azimpur → Chankharpul → Bakshibazar Crossing.

To ease congestion, DMP has allocated the following parking zones:

  1. Navy Gap to Holy Family Hospital

  2. Matsyabhaban Crossing to Segunbagicha (for law enforcement vehicles)

  3. Shilpakala Academy Lane (for law enforcement vehicles)

  4. Katabon to Nilkhet to Palashi Crossing

  5. Doel Chattar to Shahidullah Hall Crossing

The DMP has sought full cooperation from the public in following the outlined instructions to ensure that the beloved festival of Pahela Boishakh is celebrated in a safe, smooth, and joyful atmosphere. Authorities have also requested residents and visitors to remain alert, follow law enforcement guidance, and avoid restricted zones unless necessary.
