Dhaka, Sep 07 (V7N) – The joint forces, led by the Metrorail authorities, launched a drive on Sunday to evict illegal establishments beneath the Agargaon station of the Metrorail.

Authorities said that various unauthorized shops had been set up under multiple metro stations, obstructing the movement of passengers. Warnings were issued yesterday to remove the shops voluntarily, but those who failed to comply saw their establishments demolished during the operation.

Several people gathered at the Agargaon station upon hearing the news of the demolitions and expressed anger over the removal of the shops.

The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) stated that similar drives will be conducted in phases at all metro stations to remove illegal establishments and ensure smooth passenger movement.
