Dhaka, Oct 27 (V7N)- The metro rail service in Dhaka, which had been suspended following the death of a pedestrian after a bearing pad fell near Farmgate, resumed operations at 11 a.m. on Monday (October 27). Train movement from Uttara North to Motijheel has now returned to normal.
According to a statement issued by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), “This is to inform our esteemed passengers that the metro rail service from Uttara North to Motijheel has resumed uninterruptedly from 11 a.m. We sincerely apologize for the temporary inconvenience.”
The service had been suspended after a pedestrian, Abul Kalam (35), was killed and two others injured when a bearing pad fell from pier number 433 of the metro rail near Farmgate on Sunday (October 26) afternoon.
Following the incident, metro rail operations were halted for safety reasons. Limited service between Uttara and Agargaon resumed around 3 p.m. that day, while trains between Motijheel and Shahbagh started running again at 7:15 p.m.
However, service remained suspended between Bijoy Sarani and Karwan Bazar due to ongoing repair work. After the completion of repairs on Monday morning, full train operations across the entire Uttara North–Motijheel route resumed after approximately 23 hours.
