Panchagarh, Dec 09 (V7N) — The intensity of winter has increased in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh, as the minimum temperature has hovered around 10 degrees Celsius for four consecutive days, causing growing hardship for local residents.
According to the Tentulia First Class Meteorological Observation Center, the minimum temperature was recorded at 10.4 degrees Celsius at 9:00 am on Tuesday. Earlier, at 6:00 am, the temperature stood slightly higher at 10.7 degrees Celsius. At the time of observation, the air humidity was recorded at 74 percent.
Meteorological officials said cold winds blowing in from the northern Himalayan region, combined with a sharp difference between day and night temperatures, have intensified the winter feeling across the upazila. Although there was no dense fog on Tuesday, light fog was visible in the morning. Despite sunshine later in the day, it failed to provide much warmth.
Yesterday, the maximum daytime temperature reached 27.2 degrees Celsius, highlighting the wide temperature gap that has persisted throughout the week and further aggravated cold-related discomfort.
As temperatures drop, public suffering has increased significantly. Many residents have been seen burning straw at homes and roadside junctions to keep warm.
Meanwhile, Jitendranath Roy, Officer-in-Charge of the Tentulia First Class Meteorological Observation Center, warned that colder days may lie ahead. “The temperature has remained around 10 degrees Celsius for the past four days. Since such conditions have developed early in December, there is a possibility that the cold wave may intensify further in the coming days,” he said.
