The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) convened a crucial workshop titled "Let's Breathe Well: Clean Air Campaign Design" at the UN Office in Dhaka today, focusing on the pressing issue of air pollution in Bangladesh.

The workshop actively engaged various university clubs nationwide, tasking students with developing campaigns aimed at raising awareness about air pollution. Out of over 230 university clubs across 8 divisions of Bangladesh, the top 10 teams were selected to lead this vital initiative, as per a press release by UNDP.

Building upon the success of last year's "Breathe Well Dhaka" campaign, which aimed to raise awareness about air pollution, this year's initiative, "Let's Breathe Well," extends its reach to involve university students nationwide.

Stefan Liller, the Resident Representative of UNDP Bangladesh, stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach in addressing the multifaceted challenge of air pollution. He highlighted the critical health concerns posed by air pollution, particularly in densely populated cities like Dhaka.

Highlighting the pivotal role of youth, Stefan emphasized that the ideas and active participation of young individuals are essential in crafting sustainable solutions. The campaign seeks to empower the younger generation to lead the movement towards a healthier and more environmentally conscious future.

The workshop featured key speakers including Maliha Muzammil, Programme Specialist - Climate Change, UNDP, and Professor Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder, Chairman of the Department of Environmental Science from Stamford University Bangladesh. Following the workshop, the 10 selected teams will each receive a grant of BDT 10,000 to design and implement their campaigns. UNDP Bangladesh will collaborate with the top 3 groups to execute a joint campaign on Clean Air based on the results.
