Dhaka, Sep 20 (V7N) – A mild heat wave is currently sweeping through eight divisions, including the districts of Rangamati and Brahmanbaria, and is expected to persist, according to the latest weather forecast.

The Meteorological Department reported, "The heat wave is affecting Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Sylhet divisions, as well as the districts of Rangamati, Feni, and Brahmanbaria, and it may continue over the next 24 hours starting from 9 AM today."

Additionally, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely to occur in several places across the Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions. Similar conditions may be experienced in one or two locations in the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, with moderately heavy rainfall in some areas.

The monsoon trough currently extends from Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam, crossing through the central part of Bangladesh. A related trough also reaches the North Bay. While the monsoon remains less active in Bangladesh, it is weak to moderate over the North Bay.

A low-pressure system is expected to develop over the North Bay and nearby areas within the next 72 hours.

On Thursday, Sylhet recorded the country's highest temperature at 38.03°C, while Bandarban registered the lowest at 24.8°C today.

Temperatures during the day and night are likely to remain stable across the country, while Rangamati recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours, measuring 15 mm.

In Dhaka, sunset is expected at 5:57 PM today, and sunrise will be at 5:47 AM tomorrow.
