Dhaka, Oct 03 (V7N): A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on former Bangladesh cricket captain and ex-Manikganj-1 MP Naimur Rahman Durjoy and his wife, Farhana Rahman.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a request for the travel restrictions on Thursday, which was approved by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain after a hearing.

ACC Assistant Director (Prosecution) Aminul Islam confirmed the decision.

According to the ACC's application, Naimur Rahman Durjoy is currently under investigation for allegations of power abuse, irregularities in recruitment, and the embezzlement of government funds to acquire assets that exceed his known income, as well as that of his family members.

The request underlined the significance of this investigation for the state's interest in preventing money laundering. It also raised concerns that the individuals involved might try to leave the country, which could hinder or delay the ongoing investigation.
